How to set the intranet trusted sites on windows server 2008R2 when GPO Has internet options locked down

    Question

  • I have a local web site that is on the local server to access a specific application web interface for administering the application.

IE Policies are controlled by administrator thru GPO.

How can I set the intranet trusted site for this application in the registry to be able to access the  applications web interface to be able to administer the supplication?

You can not as a user. You need local administrative priviliges.

And if you could, it will be overwritten from time to time, because of
re-apply of the GPO. Ask your Admin to add the site to the GPO.

  • I have Administrator rights on the server, (but I work remotely on this one as well as 18 others which these are all at Military medical facilities and the GPO is controlled by higher command Administrators)  the other facilities have been able to adjust the IE settings to allow putting the Application Web Admin site in the Intranet Trusted sites. Unfortunately this 1 facility has no one who is able to make the adjustments.

    Thanks for your input.

You surely can orveride the GPO Settings, comming from above, because
you are admin, BUT AGAIN, it will not be a solution, thats solve your
    problem.

Be aware, it can cost your job, because you manipulate the system, thats
ruled by a higher level GPO and you are not allowed to do. (even if you
can, because you are local Admin)

Adding "http://www.yourwebsite.com" to the trusted site is the same
    technic like adding "http://www.youpo**.com" or

You need to ask the admin for changes, or aks yourself if it´s worth to
loose your job, when editing ... HKLM or HKCU:
    \SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
    Settings\ZoneMap\Domains
