Deleted file causes "locked for editing" error RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

In my SharePoint Document Library (SharePoint Online) I have a Folder that can't be deleted. The error says it can't be deleted because it's locked for editing by another user. So I tried to delete it in SharePoint designer and got more information:

(English: Server error: The file "Dokumente_GmbH/Allgemein/DSC09705.jpg" has been checked out for editing by  )

So it does give me the information about a .jpg file in this folder that has been checked out for editing but the folder is absolutely empty. And unfortunately there is only a blank where the user name should be.
I tried to find this .jpg in the recycle bin but without any luck.
This SharePoint environment is under test and only 3 people work on it but no one can remember about this file because we did a lot of testing.

I guess there are easy ways to find the problem on SharePoint Server but how can I solve this in SharePoint Online?
