Re-Deploy VM from SCVMM Library - Missing NIC settings RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Guys,

    I've just came across an issue in which I've noticed if a user Re-deploys a VM via the app controler self service portal, when the machine is brought back into the cluster the Network adapter will revert back to being not connected. Whilst the users can fix this themselves its only obvious until the VM has refreshed, until then it still shows connected.

    If I re-deploy via SCVMM client then the last step involves confirming the NIC settings and it deploys as expected.

    If you look at the jobs, it looks like the App controller just simply misses this step out.

    Job started in Self Service Portal;

    Job Started with VMM, row highlighted to show the configuration is an added step.

    Am I missing something obvious here or is this just how it works?

  • That's very interesting. Can you provide some information about the exact version of VMM and AppC you are using (including Update Rollups)?

  • Hope this is what you're after;

    VMM Version is 2012 R2 3.2.7510.0 Update Rollup 4
    App Controller 1.1.1200.0 (can't see any evidence of a rollup installed)

  • First, I would suggest updating to the latest UR on all System Center systems (just to be safe).

    Further, has this action/function worked properly for you in the past? If yes, how long ago? Maybe one of the URs broke something (which is not unheard of).

  • Long time since I actually looked into this - still a problem!

    Running the latest UR and still seeing the same symptoms, anyone came across a fix for this yet?
