Azure: Updating a label on a VM RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a need to update VM labels; not Cloud Service labels. Right now the VM label is blank and I cannot find how to update this field from PowerShell. Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Have you tried this with "NewImageLabel"

Save-AzureVMImage -ServiceName MyService -Name MyVM -NewImageName MyBaseImage -NewImageLabel MyBaseVM

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Pipe your command to Get-Member: Get-AzureVM -ServiceName ... -Name ... | Get-Member. Across from the Label property, under the definition column, does it say {get;} or {get;set;}? If it has set, then you should have the ability to change the label. Not so much, if it just says get. While you're looking at the members, look for a method, based on it's name, that might indicate how to change the label. Also, can you let us know if you there's a Set version of this cmdlet? Use Get-Command Set-AzureVM.
