unable to activate site collection feature "Project Web App Permission for Excel Web App Refresh" - access denied RRS feed

  • Question

  • Currently a SCA for the pwa site collection in Project Online as well as administrator. When attempting to enable the site collection feature Project Web App Permission for Excel Web App Refresh the response is "Sorry, you don't have access to this page". Of course requesting access merely sends the request to myself.

Are there settings at the 0365 tenant level that would cause this? This prevents publishing excel reports and running them online against Project online data.

The response received when trying this (since scf is not enabled):

"This workbook contains external data connections or BI features that are not supported."

Any help or suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

  • I have been working with support and they were able to enable the SC feature using an alternative method, but reporting in Excel Online is still not working. I will post final resolution when it happens.

  • 9 months and no response? Hello … MS … are you chaps even looking at your own TechNet site?

  • FYI.  The people who answer questions are only volunteers.  At times someone from Microsoft will answer a question.   If this is a critical situation, then I would suggest opening a ticket for support from Microsoft.

    Back to the question:

Check to see if the Excel service has access to the web application.
