How to whitelist User Agents on ADFS 2.0? RRS feed

  • Question

  • How can we achieve whitelisting User Agents on ADFS 2.0?

Powershell commands are available in ADFS 3.0 to be able to White List user agents, such as:

    Set-ADFSProperties -WIASupportedUserAgents @(“UA1″, “UA1″, “UA3″, “UA4″, “UA5″)".

However, these are not available on ADFS 2.0. What is the alternative?

  • Upgrade to ADFS 2012 R2/2016?

If that's not feasible I'd look at customizing the forms sign-in page to detect the user agent (FormsSignIn.aspx.cs) and select the appropriate authentication type. Note that any customization done here will only work on AD FS 2.0, hence the suggestion to upgrade to AD FS 2012 R2 or AD FS 2016.

  • Hi Romain,

Agree with Mylo upgrading would be a better option , and in case if you have more  apps hosted you can also plan a migration which is also a feasible option
