Uploading MSG files RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

If an Outlook email (.msg) file is saved into a team/SP WITH an attachment, is there an easy way in which you can see if that file has an attachment? A user has over 100 files to upload and a legal requirement to keep the email with the attachment. In the list in SharePoint it just appears as a normal msg file until you download/open it. Ideally they would need to tell which one of those files has an attachment in it. Hope that makes sense!

    TIA

  • Which SharePoint version do you use?

Reason for asking: there are Apps that allow extraction of email metadata such as subject, sender, ... but also the presence of attachments into SharePoint columns. These columns can then be used in views.

    See e.g. here

    C
hrome and Edge allow users to directly drag emails and/or attachments from Outlook to SharePoint so the user training is minimal.
