Can you restrict creation of user types in Portal? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Is it possible to give a group of users the ability to just create 'Vendor' accounts in the Portal?

While another group of users the ability to just create 'Contractor' accounts in the Portal?

...and other group of users to create just another 'type' of users in the Portal?

    Thanks,

    Sk

  • Hello,

Yes, it's possible with MPR and Set:

    • Create Set of user by type, like "All users of type Vendor"
    • Create a Manual Set "All admins of Vendor"
    • Create a MPR that allows the creation of users of "All users of type Vendor" by "All admins of Vendor"

Do this for all of your type of users

Remember that if "All admins of Vendor" wants to create a user of "All users of type Contractor", the create will be rejected on the submission.

  • Thanks Sylvain.

So taking this a bit further - lets say the 'employeeType' attribute is a drop down.

Ideally, we would like for "All admins of Vendor" to only see 'vendor' in the drop down box...as if they select something else like 'Contractor' they will get an error on submission, as you pointed out. Is that possible?

  • Humm, it's seems a bit complex but try to based your drop down over a new object "UserType".

    See http://theidentityguy.blogspot.fr/2011/07/populating-rcdc-dropdownlist-with.html

After that gives the right to view only object UserType "Vendor" for the set "All admins of Vendor"

I never try this, it's only an idea :)

  • Hi,

You can try creating a request based MPR which will trigger a custom authorization workflow to validate and accept or reject the creation of users based on user type.

    Thanks,
