Two or more Projects pointing to the same URL RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    I'm using Project Server 2010.

I have two or more projects related to each other, and I would like to have all of them pointing to the same URL site. It is not enough to have a site for one of them and the rest having subsites of that site, I need only one site. All the documents, issues, risks... are related to all projects, so one site is more than enough.

Is there a way to do that?

    Thank you for your help!

  • another option i recently suggested in one of the forum thread is to redirect them to one site you would want to use as primary site for logging all data

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/projectserver2010general/thread/17137381-28d4-4610-8c6d-ba8fdda0b118

i have used this frequently for redirecting my sites from one location to another without breaking anything is by using Javascript & codes embedded within Content Editor Webpart(CEW), Just add a new CEW to the homepage of other sites and add this code by editing the HTML source editor

    <meta http-equiv=”refresh” content=”1;url=http://ServerName/PWA/NewSite.aspx”>

Note:: Assuming that you know the implication, if you are using only one site for all projects, you won't be able to link issues & risks to tasks for other project, & even reporting would need to be taken care with customization :)

Let us know if this helps

  • Yup pretty much possible, just append ?contents=1  as query string to the home page & the site/page will open in web part maintenance mode, from where you can delete or close CEW webpart

  • Hi José --

Project server creates a project site per project. As you know that you can create a subsite of project site & link to the other project. Creating multiple projects having single project site doesn't seem to be possible. It's is probably by design of project sites.

    Hope that helps.

  • Thank you for your answer Amit and Sunil,

Sunil, the solution proposed by you is good enough for me. I've already tried and it works very well.

Just one question more: Is there a way to take back the CEW without having to delete the site and creating it again? It's no so important as the site is empty, it only has the code redirecting to the project main site.

Thank you very much for your help,
