Picture Resolution in Word RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I insert a jpg image in Word with 300 pixels/inch resolution, is that resolution maintained when I go to print the document?  What happens to the resolution if I shrink the picture using the Word facilities?  How can I check the resolution of a picture that is in Word?

  • If the:
    a) image size in the Word document is the same size as the original @ 300dpi; and
    b) document doesn't employ image compression,
yes. If you re-scale the image, the dpi changes in inverse proportion to the re-scaling; if image compression is employed, the dpi can be no more than the compression is set to (it can be less).
