Stsadm restore of a site collection RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hallo!

I have a backup of a site collection with the size of 1 GB and i want to restore it with stsadm. It always fails with the error "site collection could not be restored".
i already checked if enough space is free on the server and on the database server and it is.

i found in the log-files following:

    Windows SharePoint Services    Database     Unexpected query execution failure, error code 3621. Additional error information from SQL Server is included below. "The statement has been terminated." Query text (if available): "insert into WebMembers(WebId,UserId) values('E036E8C0-9D9E-4FA4-8311-6FC433F47EEE',71);  IF @@ROWCOUNT = 0 OR @@ERROR <> 0 RETURN;  insert into WebMembers(WebId,UserId) values('E036E8C0-9D9E-4FA4-8311-6FC433F47EEE',77);  IF @@ROWCOUNT = 0 OR @@ERROR <> 0 RETURN;  insert into WebMembers(WebId,UserId) values('E036E8C0-9D9E-4FA4-8311-6FC433F47EEE',79);  IF @@ROWCOUNT = 0 OR @@ERROR <> 0 RETURN;  insert into WebMembers(WebId,UserId) values('E036E8C0-9D9E-4FA4-8311-6FC433F47EEE',80);  IF @@ROWCOUNT = 0 OR @@ERROR <> 0 RETURN;  insert into WebMembers(WebId,UserId) values('E036E8C0-9D9E-4FA4-8311-6FC433F47EEE',81);  I...

it looks to be the reason why the restore doesnt work.

    has anyone an idea?

    thanks in advance

    Ronald

  • Hi Ronald,

Why did you check disk space? Along with Site Collection could not be restored, do you get insufficient disk space message as well? The site collection url you are using in the stsadm command parameter is https or http? Before restoring stop IIS and try restoring again. If the restore goes smoothly this time, start IIS back.

    Thanks, Soumya

  • Hallo!

I checked the disk spaces on the sql server and sharepoint server just to be sure that its enough. but it should be because i could restore an other backup which was little bit bigger than that one.

    as the standard error message:

The site collection could not be restored. Please make sure the content databases are available and have sufficient free space.

comes and in the microsoft kb they say to check the free space.

so i checked the logs and found the error from my start post.

the restore url is https. i also tried to stop the iis and to restore the backup. it also ended in that error. so i thought maybe the backup was corrupt. so i made a new one and tried to restore but without success.
