Reapplying Task Updates after a Project Restore RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are running Project Server 2010 with the April CU.  We have had to restore a project from the nightly Administrative backups.  When we did we lost the Task Updates that had already been applied to the project before we restored it.  Is there some automated way to reapply the Task Updates?  Do we have to go around to each resource who submitted task updates on this poject in the last 24 hours and ask them to resubmit?

    Thanks,

    Jim Mac.

  • Jim,

As I mentioned, I do not think there is any automated way to reapply updates. There could be some PSI code solution, but I will let other experts suggest on that.

The only other solution I can think of is to use the Delegates feature, so that the Admin can simulate users and resubmit their tasks. May not be best practice, but atleast will cut down the work for PM to go around and ask users.

  • I am not sure if there is any automated way to reapply updates. However, you can look at the history of updates in the approval center and manually have the PM apply those updates to the Project Plan.

  • Thanks for your suggestions.  We can certainly view the History of updates in approval center.  But, unless I've missed something the Project Manager cannot re-apply those Task Status Updates from the history.  If we heve 'Protected Actuals' turned on then the only way that those Actual hours can be entered back into the schedule is for the Team Members to re-submit their Task Updates (which in our case can be many).  It that correct?

Is there any other way to get Task Updates reapplied to a schedule after a schedule has been restored from backup?

    Thanks,

    Jim Mac.
