MOSS 2007 Extended Web Application using FBA denies access to administrators RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

My Environment here is a bit old, Windows 2003 R2 SP2 with IIS 6 and MOSS 2007 (12.0.0.6421) but I was hoping I might be able to get some advice.

Situation: I log into my Web Application via FQDN :8188/">http://<host.server.com>:8188/ that I should be able to access.

However, even using the Primary Site Collection Administrator (or any other user) I get "Access Denied" in the extended application, even though it uses the same directory. I can, without signing out, go to the original just fine.

Here is what the ULS Log reports:

Searching the web via Bing I found the most hits on these forums. However all I was able to extrapolate is that I somehow do not have the right permissions. I would love to understand the cause and resolution, but none of the previously posted resoltuions I found work for me.

  • Hi,

From the ULS log, it seems that the error occurred when you access the site: http://moss2007-smr12.moss2007.ca.com:8188/Wiki%20Pages/Home.aspx.

Is the site a sub site under your site collection http://moss2007-smr12.moss2007.ca.com:8188/

Did the sub site break permission inherit  from the site collection?

If yes, You can try to add the FBA users to the default Visitors group or to restricted readers on the root site collection.

If the issue persists, try to add the user to user policy to the FBA web application.

  • Hi Xue-Mei,

Thank you for the advice. Even though I do not have a subsite I tried that. Chaging permissions of users does not seem to have any effect.

For the most part I am teting with the Primary Site Collection Administrator.

This is due to the fact there is an issue reported with my company's 2007 integration on extended sites. I am trying to reproduce the issue but first have to get past this (the issue reported is with the people picker, i have to be able to get in to use the people picker...)

    Sincerely,

    Josh Perlmutter
