Automatically open documents with VBA in client application? RRS feed

  • We have a customer who has just upgraded from SharePoint 2010 Foundation to 2010 Enterprise (this is part of a planned strategy to upgrade to 2013).

    As a result any spreadsheets that a user opens, open in the browser WHICH for the most part is OK. However, there are a number of spreadsheets with VBA macros in them, and understandably these will not open in a browser.

    Is there a mechanism within SharePoint that can recognise VBA in documents, and if found will open them in the client application by default rather than in the browser?
