Connect Azure Web App to SQL Managed Instance RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am unable to link a web app to a SQL Managed Instance.

    I copied the connection string for the MI:

    Server=tcp:sqlserviceXXX.public.XXXSSSS.database.windows.net,3342;Persist Security Info=False;User ID={your_username};Password={your_password};MultipleActiveResultSets=False;Encrypt=True;TrustServerCertificate=False;Connection Timeout=30;

    And added that to webconfig file but the browser errors with 503.  This is a connection error I am sure.

    Note that the webapp is using regional integration.

Answers

  • It just needs to use the private endpoint.

    And Datasource= in the webconfig file.
