Internet Explorer 10 Proxy Auto Configuration Parsing Issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • Issue: Our company uses an .ins configuration file that references a .pac (Proxy Auto Configuration) file which loads into memory that directs IE to go direct or use a proxy server for each URL. IE 10 crashes while loading the .pac file (which is really a JavaScript file) into memory when IE is launched.

Symptoms: IE 10 crashes while parsing .pac (JavaScript) file at browser startup. This happens with IE10 with any supported operating system, Win7, Win8 (x86,x64) etc.

Is there anyone who has seen this issue and can give guidance toward a resolution?

    Thank you!

we use a javascript-based PAC file (we have done so for many years) and it's working fine for all IE versions (4-11) on all Windows versions (NT4-WS2012R2 server and NT4-Win8.1 workstation).

  • So you want to set proxy depending on the URL?

I don't think this is possible.
