Mac Outlook 2016 - Mail Exchange Sync Issues RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've recently switched from a Windows Outlook 2013 to Mac Outlook 2016. My problem is, that unlike the Windows Outlook which used to sync seamlessly with my Zimbra Exchange email account, Outlook 2016 needs to be synced manually by pressing the Send/Receive button. I've tried Apple Mail and its able to sync mails automatically, however, I prefer to use Mac Outlook 2016.

I've already tried creating a new profile and tested the outcome but the problem remains unresolved The mail syncs only when I press the Send & Receive button.

    Please Help...

  • Thank you for the update. I haven't got an workaround about this issue. In theory, Exchange pushes changes to Outlook immediately when changes are identified. It's more likely that the issue lies with the Zimbra side like I mentioned before. See more information about How synchronization works between Outlook 2016 for Mac and Exchange Server.

  • Hi,

Please go to the Tools tab of Outlook 2016 for Mac and click the Sync Errors button to see if you can see any related sync errors.

We may also try to right click on your Inbox and select Empty Cache to see if it helps. This will replace messages in this folder with the messages from the server.

In addition, I noticed that this issue only happens when using Zimbra Exchange email account. I'd recommend you also contact the support of Zimbra to see if they can provide any solution on this issue.

  • Hi Steve,
    Thanks for your reply.

I checked for Sync errors, there are none. I emptied the cache, exactly as you mentioned, this action replaced the messages. However the problem remains.

The IT Team at my office has tried contacting the Zimbra support team but hasn't received any solution from them.

Is there any workaround that I may use?
