  • Finally Issue is fixed.

    Resolution steps:

    1. We checked the error message from "Content type service application error log" List and observed that the "Content type service application error log" List view threshold limit was exceeded.

    2. When we tried to deactivate Content Type Syndication Hub feature error was thrown “The attempted operation is prohibited because it exceeds the list view threshold enforced by the administrator".

    3. Increased the list view threshold limit from central administration.

    4. deactivated and activated Content Type Syndication Hub feature and issue has got solved.

  • Hi Siddheshwar,

    For this issue, I recommend to check the things below:

    1。 Check if the two options in the image below have been checked in Manage Metadata Service Connection and provide screenshot here for further research.

    2. Check if the Managed Metadata Service application has been associated with the web application where the content type hub exists and the web applications which need to consume the content types.

    3. Please verify that if the issue occurs with all the content types publishing.

    Best Regards,

    Victoria

  • Hi Victoria,

    I have checked all the below settings which are related to Content type hub but we are still facing content type publishing issue:

    1.Content type hub URL is correct in Managed Metadata service application.

    2.Please find below screen shot of my managed metadata - proxy service.

    3.Managed metadata service application has been associated with the content type hub. Check screen shots.

    4.After all checked We tried to publish content type but page is redirecting to  "something went wrong screen".

    5. We tried to publish through SharePoint power-shell script but Its also throwing below exception.

    System.Management.Automation.MethodInvocationException: Exception calling "Publish" with "1" argument(s): "The operation failed on one or more Metadata web service application proxies: ManagedMetadata-Proxy. Please contact your administrator and check the log files for more error details." ---> Microsoft.SharePoint.Taxonomy.ContentTypeSync.ContentTypeSyndicationException: The operation failed on one or more Metadata web service application proxies: ManagedMetadata-Proxy. Please contact your administrator and check the log files for more error details.

    6. We did googled and found some possible solution we tried as well but that also not helpful to resolve our issue.

    • Set-SPMetadataServiceApplication hubUri for this service application.
    • $mmd = Get-SPServiceApplication | ?{$_-match “Managed”} $mmd.Provision()

    Yes. This content type publishing issue is having for all content type (including OOTB and Custom). We checked all content type hub and content type subscriber job those were working properly. We tried with resetting IIS and Restarting Timer Job services as well.Content type Syndication Hub feature is active.  For Logs I have mentioned in starting of thread.

    Please provide possible root cause of the issue and possible solution. Your help will be appreciated.

  • Hi Siddheshwar,

    From the forth ULS log in your first post, it indicates that the issue is related with a list.

    I suppose that the list is the hidden list Taxonomy list: https://<ContnetTppeHub>/sites/contenttypehub/Lists/TaxonomyHiddenList/AllItems.aspx.

    Did you use any managed metadata field in the Document content type?

    Please publish a content type without managed metadata fields and then check if same issue still occurs.

    And please also access the hidden Taxonomy list in the content type hub to see if the list can be accessed by the service account of managed metadata service account and current account used to publish the content type.

    Best Regards,

    Victoria

  • HI Victoria,

    Yes. TaxonomyHiddenList is accessible for the managed metadata service account and other account as well.

    We have managed metadata field in some content type but After your suggestion I tried by creating simple content type without using managed metadata field but issue is still there I can't publish this newly created content type. Even this issue occurring for all the content type including Out of the box content type (OOTB) + Custom Content type.

    Any update on this issue ?

  • Hi Siddheshwar,

    From the content type publishing error, it indicates that there are two features are not enabled on the consumer sites where the content types will be consumed: Workflow Service Store and Publishing Resources.

    Please enable the two features in your consumer sites:

    Enable-SPFeature -Identity WorkflowServiceStore –Url http://spserver/sites/site
    Enable-SPFeature -Identity publishingresources -Url http://spserver/sites/site

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Siddheshwar,

    I recommend to remove the MetadataWebService.svc in Internet Information Services(IIS) and then re-provision it to see how the content type publishing will work.

    You can use the PowerShell below to get the GUID of the MetadataWebService.svc and then use the GUID to find the service in IIS and remove it:

    $MMS = Get-SPServiceApplication | where {$_.TypeName -like "*Metadata*"}
    $MMS.id

    After that, re-provision it:

    $MMS = Get-SPServiceApplication | ?{$_ -match "Managed"}
    $MMS.Provision()

    Best Regards,

    Victoria

  • HI Victoria,

    Without removing the MetadataWebService.svc in Internet Information Services(IIS) I had tried executing power-shell script for re-provision. But that was not helpful to solve our Content type publishing error.

    As you suggested we will try and will get back to you with an update.

  • Hi Victoria,

    We tried to resolve this issue by following ways but we aren't got any solution on this.

    1. restored previous working copy of content type hub and tried to publish content type but still facing same issue.

    2. We removed previous managed metadata proxy and created a new proxy with previous DB  but same issue we are facing.

Any suggestion on this.
