  • Here Is the answer you get the sharepoint domain in address bar after you press cancel in my case http://%name-of-the-machine%:#port

Use IE for better compatibility to prevent sharepoint asking for credentials go to Tools->Internet options->security (tab)->trusted sites->set security level for this zone to low (the lowest possible)->apply->OK

  • Are you sure you loaded all the pre-requisites?  It seems to be complaining that it can't find one of the dlls that is normally added to the system when the SharePoint version of FIM is loaded. Take a look at my Step by Step walkthrough here it might clarify your issue:

  • Since installing the hotfixes didn't go straight forward  I've tried to install the prerequisites using this

After doing the 3 steps "step" 4: "All done! Re-run the prerequisites installer – it should finish with success, as expected" doesn't work the installers keeps giving this messages:

The error from the Event Viewer:
Windows update  could not be installed because of error 2149842967 "" (Command line: "wusa  Windows6.1-KB976462-v2-x64.msu")

  • The built in prereqinstaller installs the prereqs for the Server OS.  To install it on Windows 7 you need to install each of the prereqs manually, and its a slightly different list.  Use the steps and links in my blog post that I referenced above and you should be fine.

  • Allright it seems one of the pre-requisites was missing THNX.

    Now a new problem emerged:

How should I know what's my user and password to my local sharepoint site ?

This is a Firefox window and maybe if IE was SharePoint's default browser this would've not happened ?

  • The username and password would be for whoever you named as the site collection administrator when you created the site collection.  When first created the site collection administrators are the only ones who normally have access to the site.  They log in and add other people to the site.
