Change Azure Backup Vault? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just discovered that Azure hos chosen the most expensive redundancy policy for me for my current backup vault and that I cannot change that policy when the vault is in use. I need to change the policy because it is too expensive.

I know that I can make a new vault, but how can I use that in DPM? Do I have to throw away (deregister?) the existing vault first? Or can I use two vaults at the same time? If so, how do I make sure that all new online backups go to the new vault?

  • Hi,

At this stage, you can only use one vault per DPM server.

Unfortunately, if the vault was created on Geo-Redundant storage and DPM was registered, you will have no other choice but to create a new vault (in locally-redundant storage this time) and register your DPM server to that one.
As for the data that resides in the original vault, you can either keep it (knowing that it will no longer grow and as a fixed cost) or delete it and loose the recovery points.

    Cheers,
    Stephane
