Add file to a document library RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

i try to add a folder to a document library in SP by WebDAV. I access to a document library by next syntax \\<server SP name>\DavWWWRoot\<Document library name>. If i try to add a folder all working good. When i try to add a file inside this folder after some minute the folder disappers with the file too.

How can i solve this situation? Why this behavioral? Where is my mistakes?

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi 570Enrico,

Saving files directly to WebDAV (i.e., from within an application, such as Word, Excel, or Internet Explorer) does not work reliably. For best results, save the file to your computer first, and then upload it to your site.

Based on my test, you can’t create a new folder under the root of a WebDAV server. Whereas,  you can use Net Use * http://www.adatum.com/DavWWWRoot to link a drive to the root of the SharePoint server. then create a folder under a subfoler and upload a file.

For more information about How to connect to SharePoint Document Library using WebDAV, please look into the following articles:
