DPM allocated a lot of disk space RRS feed

  • Question

  • DPM 2010

I have added 16 Tb disk in dpm disk pool and created protection group with only one server (it have  2 Тb disk). I have choosed for protection some folders, System State and Bare Metal Recovery, "Automatically grow the volumes" is true.

For this group DPM have "eaten" more than 12 Tb. What's problem? In automatically growing the volumes? How to resolve this problem?

  • 488 is the about the max retention days for DPM in short term.

According to DPM calculation it will allocate the required recovery point for the DPM to cover that 488. Thats why it takes alot of disk space...
