Restoring items in the \Configuration Items\Configuration Items\Software\All Software View RRS feed

  • Question

  • Some software items were deleted (and removed) from the Configuration Items\Configuration Items\Software\All Software in our Service Manager 2012 environment.  Re-running 'Synchronize Now' for the ConfigMgr CI Connector does not restore the deleted software items.

Any idea how we can get them back?

Any help or guidance would be greatly apprecaited!

    Regards,

    JJ

  • Hey

when the new and old connector have the exact same configuration and the new connector synchronized 100% without Errors, you can now delete the old one

  • Hey

Did you check if they are available under Administration\Deleted Items? Maybe you can restore them from there.

  • Marcel,

Thanks for the reply!  Unfortunately, they were removed from the Administration\Deleted Items view as well.  :-(

  • Hey

OK. And when you run the SCCM connector again they are not imported anymore? this is strange. did you turn off asset intelligence in SCCM? check that, enable it and run connector again. if asset intelligence is still active, you could also try creating a new SCCM connector (do NOT delete the old one) and sync it.

  • Marcel,

Correct, running the ConfigMgr CI Connector does not restore the deleted software items.  I also ran a report in SCCM to verify the .exe files for the corresponding software items still exist in SCCM's software inventory which they do (and Asset Intelligence is still turned on).  Let me try adding another ConfigMgr CI connector and see what happens.  Stay tuned...

  • Marcel,

That worked.  But, now what do I do with the original ConfigMgr CI Connector as I know if you delete a connector you also remove all the CI objects related to that cvonnector.
