ReadyState and external HDD write-protection RRS feed

  • Question

  • Since I installed Windows SteadyState on my Viao lapto,  with Windows Vista Business as an OS, all my portable hard disks (4) report they are write-protected. I can read files on these disks but not save to or even update a file.
Hard disk protection in my SteadyState is set to Off.
Has the above anything to do with SteadyState? If yes, has anyone a solution to remove the write-protection error I get?
    Thanks

Hi Saqr, I'd like to inform you that Windows SteadyState does provide disk protection function. However, this function only affects system partition, usually on C: and it does not affect other partitions or external hard drives. You can check if the current user has write permission on the drives.

    Hope this helps!
