Outlook not open encrypted email


  • Good afternoon. There is Exchange 2013 + Outlook 2010,2016. The user creates the certificate for enciphering of letters (on the basis of a template from corporate CA), adjusts it in Outlook. In case of receipt of the encoded letter the user can't open it, gives an error message that the certificate isn't found.

    Does the issue happen to one specific user? In Outlook client, please go to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > E-mail Security, under Encrypted e-mail, click Settings. Make sure your certificate is configured correctly.

    If you are using the certificate for internal domain emails, please click Publish to GAL to have a try. If it doesn't work, please send a certificate-signed email firstly to the recipient, then let the recipient save your email address to his/her contact folder. Now you can send the encrypted email to this recipient, confirm if the issue persists.
