List of servers in Active Directory

    Question

  • Hello,

    Does an attribute allow to identify a REAL server/desktop (physical or virtual) in Active directory versus "share names", "cluster names", "instance names"?

    Get-ADComputer -Filter {servicePrincipalName -notlike "msclustervirtualserver*" }

    is excluding clusters names but still shares and other objects not real servers/desktops are showing in the list...

    Any idea?

    Thanks,
    DOm

    You want to query servers? Why not use operating system attribute?

    Get-ADComputer -Filter {OperatingSystem like "*Server*"} -properties OperatingSystem | FT Name
    Not sure if I understood what is your need.
