Visio Viewer IE add-ons RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am trying to open a Visio document on a PC that doesn't have the 'Microsoft Visio Document' IE add-on. The PC has Visio Viewer 2010 installed, should the add-ons have loaded with the install?

I have tried opening the file on another PC which has the add-on and it opened with no problems.

This is a business related issue and the customer needs this sorting asap, as she has no other PC to work on. Is there a way we can load the 'Microsoft Visio Document' add-on onto that PC?

    Thanks

  • You can use either this one

    or download this one

  • Reinstalling it hasn't worked! However a colleague of mine has just tried opening this same Visio file on his PC which opened and he doesn't have this 'Microsoft Visio Document' IE add-on. So I am going to rule that one out.

The problem PC also has Visio Standard 2002 on it. It is trying to open the file in Visio Standard 2002 and we receive an error saying 'This file cannot be opened because it was created with a newer or unrecognised version of Visio''.

After installing Visio Viewer 2010 we still receive this error. Could it be that Visio Standard 2002 and Visio Viewer 2010 will not work with each other on the same PC?

    Thanks

  • No version of visio will read an up-level version of the same program (2002 cannot read files created after it). It sounds like the default for visio files is the v2002 so you might check this out

  • Here's a Microsoft support link for a co-installed Visio 2002/Visio Viewer 2007 conflict:

Perhaps the problem carries over to Visio 2010
