Several questions regarding DPM 2012 (SP1) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

we are running several DPM 2010 servers on Windows Server 2008 R2.
We are planning to go for DPM 2012 next year.

    Some questions came up:

    1. Chaining
Is it possible to use a DPM 2012 Server for secondary protection if the "first" DPM is running DPM 2010?

    2. Max storage /  VSS Snapshots
I know DPM 2010 could handle 80 TB for Storage Pools and 9.000 snapshots
Are these limitations still the same for DPM 2012?

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi,

    Q1. Chaining
Is it possible to use a DPM 2012 Server for secondary protection if the "first" DPM is running DPM 2010?

A1) No, both primary and secondary DPM severs must be running the same version and be at the same QFE level

Q2. Max storage /  VSS Snapshots
I know DPM 2010 could handle 80 TB for Storage Pools and 9.000 snapshots

A2) DPM 2012 supports 120TB storage pool, but the snapshot limit remains the same.
