Project Server 2010 -> Edit User -> Save -> An unknown error has occurred. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    has someone an idea?

We use Project Server 2010. Since a Microsoft Windows and Office (Sharepoint/Project Server) Update, we get when saving the changes by editing an user:

The resource could not be saved due to the following reasons:
    • An unknown error has occurred.

    Thanks and kind regards

  • The solution with very good support by Microsoft in our environment is the following. Don't use this solution in other environments without testing on a test system!

in ULSlogs appeared The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object  MSP_ReadLocalAndEnterpriseLookupTableInfoByUIDs', database 'PS_ProdFarm01_ProjectServer_Published'

The error came probably with CU March 2015 and should be removed according to Microsoft Support with import of CU in June 2015. The stored procedure 'MSP_ReadLocalAndEnterpriseLookupTableInfoByUIDs' is new and looks like

The workaround is in Microsoft Management Studio à Databases à Published DB for PWA à Programmability à Stored Procedures à MSP_Read_CustomFieldsDependingOnLookupTables à Properties à to grant execute for ProjctServerRole and looks like

  • Hi,

Did you try to open the resource from the resource center in Project Pro and save it from there?

Then try again editing the user in PWA.

    Hope this helps,

  • Hello Guillaume,

thank you, it is very interesting to recognize that we can edit users in MS Project Professional, but I cannot save the changes.

    Kind regards
