The WSS 3.0 internal database (Windows Internal Database) has no database size limitation (the one for MOSS 2007 has a 4GB limitation).

It means that the standard limits and recommended maximums still are valid.
(Max per list: 5,000,000 items. Recommended maximums per list 2000 items per list or 2000 items per folder and 2000 folders per List)
However there are no new/different limits or recommended limits because the free internal database system is being used.

@George Zhou: you can also check this link; it contains some sharepoint max limits:

Hi George Zhou,
Every software has its boundary. It’s meaningless to answer “can wss3 site as large as the disk size”. If it is too large, it would inevitably lead to a sharp decrease speed of the system. If it is so, the site capacity growth to no meaning. I suggest you to refer to this article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262787(office.12).aspx. You can know the boundaries and limits of Office SharePoint Server 2007 from there.
Thanks & Regards,
Peng Lei

Peng Lei:
Re your suggested link.
He is using WSS 3.0 not MOSS 2007 which the article according to your text is about.
Your main point is clear which is why I was careful to give the *maximum recommendations* earlier. I suspect however that the user is aware that more means slower as he - at least imo - was asking about limits not about performance slow-downs caused by too much data in the WSS 3.0 system.
