aik shown as required after successful installation RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

after installation of MDT2012 sp1 AIK was shown as required even WADK was previously installed.

I thought that WADK (deployment tools, windows preinstallation env, user store migration) is replacing AIK...

So I just successfully installed it... What is weird that after installation it still appears as required.

It shown as installed in Control Panel. When click install in MDT it presents : Repair or Remove options that indicates that it is installed.

    How to deal with that?

    Thanks.

  • Henrik, is AIK necessary when WADK is preinstalled?

    Thanks

  • WAIK and ADK can't be installed at the same time... it's one or the other.  ADK is newer and has WinPE 4.0 and official support for Windows 8 / Server 2012 and should be used.  MDT 2012 U1 was released prior to ADK being released (so far as I remember), so says "install WAIK", but if you have ADK installed already, ignore it, you are fine.

  • David,

now I understand that it is a real bug... as I mentioned ADK was installed, then AIK required appeared. I did install it (IF IT WAS SHOWN as required). Finally I have both.

Logically, even if it was required the installation supposed to be prevented (may be next patch will fix that).

After your notes I just uninstalled AIK (without any errors). Hope my MDT installation will not be corrupted.

    Thanks.
