dpm offsite replication RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

i have dpm setup for offsite replication.  this works fine but someone has 2TB of images that needs to be backed up and this would take a long time over a 6mbps link.

is there a way of backing up the files on the dpm server local and then exporting the files to an external drive and importing them at the offsite datacentre.

then i would have a base copy and just the changes would be replicated depending on how long it took me to imort the data.

    Thanks

  • Hi Phill,

It sounds like you already have a secondary up'n running with protection groups configured. When you create your protection group or add members to the protection group you have the option to choose how DPM should create the replica (Now, Scheduled or manual) http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff399552.aspx (written for DPM 2010 but works for DPM 2012.

If you have the option to recreate your protection I would suggest that you go for the manual method.

Please let us know if you got an answer to your question or have any further questions.
