Lost product key RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,
I think I know the answer to this, but I thought I'd ask.  My father bought a DVD for Vista Ultimate Upgrade, 32bit edition to install on one of his laptops, without bothering to run the software that would help him decide whether it would even run on that laptop.  Needless to say, it didn't work.

Since that time, the disk has been floating around.  I had to fly to help my stepmother with my father when he had super serious health issues.  She asked for my help fixing another computer they have (one that will run Vista).  The problem is, that in two moves over the last year, and now living in a motor home, the product key is long separated from the Vista disk.  Is there any way to get a new product key, or figure out what the product key for this disk is?  Or is it just a beautiful $250 coaster?  Unfortunately, we cannot follow up with my father about it as he is a long-term patient at the VA hospital in St. Pete FL Bay Pines, and is unable to communicate any possibility of where the key may be.

Any help or suggestions that won't cost me $59 would be most welcome.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice you have.

  • I'm sorry to inform you that you are up a creek without a paddle if you cannot find the product key that was included in the originally packaging of your Vista DVD.  You'll need to purchase a new Vista license.
