Handling Services in APPV package RRS feed

  • Question

  • The package interacts with Nodejs and vendor has created the service. The service also contains parameters to start another exe node.exe through parameters

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\xyz\Parameters = application=path of node.exe

When the application get installed, service gets started automatically and this service starts the node.exe . Node.exe is not a service

But the virtual package is unable to start the main service eventhough the service is listed in services in sequencer and present in appxmanifest.xml

Also nodejs is installed along with main package

  • Try resequence your application and point PVAD to the rootfolder were the service is located. You can access the PVAD setting by starting your sequencer with the paramater: -EnablePVADControl.

If you want to have PVAD enabled at all times, you can also set the following regkey:
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\AppV\Sequencer\Compatibility
    dword EnablePVADControl=1
