Refresh error when sharing Power Query/Power Pivot generated workbooks. "Mashup.OleDb.1 not registered" RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I'm facing an issue of sharing the workbook I created using a power query from an SQL server cube. The query was modified in power pivot to add new columns and calculated fields, then summarized with pivot tables and slicers to create a dashboard. I am simply trying to email the workbook to select others in the organization (who also have access to the server). Users are unable to refresh the model upon receiving it. The error reads: Class not registered. Microsoft.Mashup.OleDb.1 is not registered. Is there a solution to this? Any information is much appreciated.

  • This error usually means that the other users don't have Power Query installed themselves. A workbook which contains a query created using Power Query can only be refreshed on a computer with Power Query installed.

  • Thanks. I suspected this might be the case. Instead of making everyone at the organization adopt power query, I simply cut power query out of the process and brought the data directly into power pivot.
