Viewing mountpoint folders RRS feed

  • Question

  • DPM 2012 on Windows 2012

I'm not sure if this is strictly a DPM question but I'd like to see the folders and files that are contained in the mount point but get access denied.  I've tried adding security but can't seem to access the folders.  I didn't have a problem doing this with DPM 2010 on Windows 2008 R2.

For example I can see that folders exist under D:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center 2012 R2\DPM\DPM\Volumes\Replica\SqlServerWriter\vol_2efdcbed-78fd-4836-be98-93acd8b0f5f2.  However, I can't view any sub folders.  Get access denied.

Is this possible with DPM 2012?

  • Hi,

There should not be any need to get on the replica volume and we recommend running dpmbackup -replicas then access them under the shadowcopy folder.

To gain access to the shadowcopy folder use the following steps.

    1)      Download psexec.exe from www.sysinternals.com
    2)      Run PSEXEC -s cmd.exe   (this will switch window to system context)
    3)      Afterwards - type WHOAMI it should return:

                      nt authority\system

    4)  Now CD to the replica volume under program files\Microsoft DPM\DPM\Volumes\ShadowCopy\...

  • I don't need to access this remotely. I can get on the DPM server.  I'd just like to view using Windows Explorer.
