Parameter is incorrect error message RRS feed

  • Question

  • A user's views were working fine but once coming back after Christmas is getting the following error message when she tries to open her my views or a briefing book. She can successfully open a couple of pages and so it does not seem to be an authorisation issue but for the rest she is getting the following:

An error occured in the application: The parameter is incorrect

We have done some changes over xmas so it could be due to these but to help us narrow down why this has happened what are the possible causes of the error message above?

  • Thanks for everyone's responses however we fixed it. During our cutover of our new build some reports must have disconnected (which was very odd). Reconnecting the reports seemed to resolve the issue.

  • It is difficult to say what the cause could be GXT313.  Can you provide some additional information?  Which version of ProClarity are you using?  Does the error display in the standard (ProClarity Analytics Server) client, the Professional client, or both?  What type of views are able to be displayed and which are not able to be displayed?  Is this user able to access any briefing book views at all?  Can she then create new My Views and subsequently access them successfully?  Is she the only user experiencing the issue?

    Thanks,

    Bob

  • Bob,

We are using 6.2 Web Professional. THe error is displayed in the ProCLarity client when the user tries to open the view / breifing book, however they are capable of opening other views or books. The error currently appears for the majority of the views though. Yes the user can create nnew viws and access them after. We had done some changes over xmas which are most likely the cause however for almost all other users the missing data wizard appears if this was the reason. I am not sure why for this one user we are getting these error messages. I have noticed in a lot of her MDX there are custom sets / members. Could these have to do with it?

    THanks for the reply.

  • It's very possible that the custom members/sets could be contributing to or even causing the error.  Step one would be to make sure all of the user's custom members/sets are still valid after the cube changes.  Could be that something changed on the cube side that rendered the business logic invalid and is causing the problem in views that use that logic.

  • GTX, are you or for that matter anyone else currently seeing this error message "An error occurred in the application: The parameter is incorrect"?  If so please post on this thread along with what operating systems are running both your SSAS server and client machine.

    Thanks,

    Sean
