Social technet Profile recognition points decreased for most of the moderators/contributors?? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello Folks,

Today when I looged into my account & started checking the posts in project server forum & clicked Barbara Henhapl's profile by mistake & found that recognition points for her is decreased. I remember that she had 10,100 + points so I doubled checked with few more profiles (Khurram J, PWmather) & found their points are also decreased..Even when I checked mine, was suprise to see 500+ ponits deducted :(

Could anybody please explain why this happpened to everyone?

  • Ok, Found the answer:

    Points Changes

On July 14th user points will be updated for all users. Users will see new point totals and achievements for the history of their participation in the forums for the past six years. Some users will gain points but most points will be adjusted to a lower value based on the new points algorithm. Two main differences in the new algorithm:

    • New points system rewards users for reply counts as ‘achievements’ instead of the 2 points per reply.
    • New points system no longer rewards users for ‘self-answer marking’ on their owner replies. This has been a noted bug in the system for years that until now, we have not addressed.

  • i miss the medals

i think they were the great way of appreciation, even if they could tie the medal with the new point system would be good.

  • I'm just really annoyed that I finally got my 3rd medal only to over-night have a puny amount of points. Thanks, Microsoft. All my years of trying to be helpful kicked back in my face...

...It sucks even more when I see that there are lots of acheivements I should have but have only been recognised since the new system was put in place (like first post).
