früher konnte man mit drag&drop aus dem startmenü ein Programm auf den Desktop ziehen. Unter Windows 8 kann man es nur auf die taskleiste pinnen.

  • Hi,

You can still copy files to the Desktop folder using Windows Explorer.

The Start screen displays both the basic soft links (known as shortcuts) and Modern UI apps, these are applications themselves (well, more their representation on the Start screen).

    The thing is:

    1. The Start screen you see when you press WindowsKey is NOT a desktop, it's a Start screen (well it's still a WinSta, or Window Station, as far as I know).

    2. The old Desktop that you are used to using is shown when you press WindowsKey+D.

    3. You still can drag and drop files, folders, shortcuts to the Desktop from any Desktop application (such as Internet Explorer desktop), but you cannot do that from a Modern UI app, such as Internet Explorer (black IE Modern app) or People app.

    4. Alternatively, you can copy/move/drag'n'drop every file system object to the %userprofile%\Desktop folder.

Well this is the world we live in And these are the hands we're given...
