Power Query - From Database - From Mysql MISSING RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just installed the latest Power Query 2.32, 32-bit.

I've just re-installed the latest MySQL Connector Net 6.9.8, 32-bit.

But when I go to the Power Query tab, then from Database, "From MySQL" is not listed. I only have 3 options.

My "From Database" menu looks pretty different from the one shown on Microsoft's support site:

    https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Connect-to-a-MySQL-database-Power-Query-8760c647-88b9-409d-b312-6ea8f84a269b?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US

Help! How do I get back the functionality to connect to a MySQL database?

  • The MySQL connector has never been available in Office Standard 2013.

  • In Excel 2010, there is no effective way to identify the Office SKU for an add-in like Power Query. Chances are that you were using a non-ProPlus version without Software Assurance, which is not officially supported for Power Query at all (just impossible to detect at Setup or Runtime).

  • MySQL connector is only available in "Premium" SKUs of Excel/Office 2013 (Professional Plus, Office 365 ProPlus or Excel 2013 Standalone).

Can you confirm what SKU of Excel are you using?

    Thanks,
    M.

  • Apparently I have Microsoft Office Standard 2013.

Now I'm pissed. Did Microsoft really remove functionality? What the hell?

  • It was available in 2010, and now it's gone in 2013. I don't appreciate the removal.
