Use output of a query in formula for a step in another query RRS feed

  • Question

  • A file has a single field with generated date and then followed by some data.

    I pick "Generated Date" from this file using power query and then I have another query to fetch the data from the same file.

    I need to use the "Generated Date" use it to calculate a new column that will be added in the 2 query.

    Can that be done?

  • Not quite sure what you're actually looking for, but this is a start:

    The output of a query mostly is a table and can be referenced by just typing the name of the query, like

    query1

    If you don't want to refernce the whole table but just a column, you need to use these brackets: [..], like

    query1[column1]

    If all you want is to reference a certain field in a row in this column, you use different brackets: {..}, like

    query1[column1]{0}

    this returning the first (! yes PQ starts counting at 0!) value from column1 in query1
