OWSTIMER Issue - Logs created RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am using SharePoint Server 2007. I am getting the following error in Log files continuously. Actually it creates large logs some upto 1GB and causing the machine to slowdown. Any idea what causes this ?

    Eg.

02/23/2011 15:20:08.70  OWSTIMER.EXE (0x0BA4)                    0x0BB0 Windows SharePoint Services    Timer                          5uuf Monitorable The previous instance of the timer job 'Immediate Alerts', id '{2D667F12-410D-4669-9BE9-EAE04EDE15DD}' for service '{839FFF33-D8E6-4CE2-BB55-866CB8BB4311}' is still running, so the current instance will be skipped.  Consider increasing the interval between jobs.

Many different timer jobs have been created like the one above. Seems that many timer jobs are created at a rapid pace...like a timer job creating endless-loop being running.

I also got to know that restarting the Timer Service would be a temporary solution...How should I solve this ?

  • Hi lilSam21,

Please try to clear the file system  Cache follow this KB.

The file system cache is where we cache configuration information on each server in the farm. Sometime this data can become corrupted and needs to be cleared out and rebuilt. Please clear the file system cache on all servers in the server farm on which the Timer service is running.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Emir

  • Hi,

Could you please provide your farm details and make sure to run timer services with farm admin account.
