Windows server 2012 R2 builtin\administrator prerequisite catch-22 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I have built a windows server 2012 r2 vm with application server and web server roles required by my application to be tested.

As part of the server prerequisite I must not perform the test as a builtin\administrator.

I have created a normal user account for the test and added the user to the remote desktop users group.

When I login as the normal user and run the MPR test tool (4.6) UAC prompts me to provide an administrator password to continue after which the builtin\administrator prereq test fails!

What is the correct approach to pass this test?

    If you turn off UAC?

  • UAC must be enabled so it will fail that prereq' if it is disabled.

  • The user has to be a member of the local administrators group.

    Thanks to MPR Support.

There is a more detailed guide available that was sent to me. It was not on the Microsoft Platform Ready web site so after a little while searching I found the link here. Hopefully it will save someone some time.
