Windows Search 4.0 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been looking to see if Windows Search 4.0 is a download/addon for Windows 7 or a built in component.  So far everything I have found is leading me to beleive that it IS a built in feature but I wanted to verify.  The article in the TechNet library regarding this is almost 2 years out of date and doesn't include any information about Windows 7.

Any and all help is appreciated!

  • It is an integrated component.  Has been since Vista I believe.

It doesn't look the same as what you would install on Windows XP, but the search engine is what drives everything in 7 search related.  You can configure indexing options for it in the Control Panel.
