MDT and Hardware Inventory RRS feed

  • Question

  • Ok so now that I have MDT working the way I want it. I need to make an inventory of the exisitng XP machines in our environment so I can keep track of the ones I change over as I go. Is ther any toold that does this? I found that MAP does this but all it does is summarize everything like 300 xp machines. I need it to list the name of the computer and the Operating system it is running. Also if it could filter out thin clients that would be great.

  • MDT is not a management environment. That's what SCCM is for.

Yes I know that, but what I am looking for is a program that can populate a list of all XP machines in my domain so I can export a list of it so I can keep track of the computers I migrate.

  • Look in the Windows ADK.  I think this functionality is in the Application Compatability Toolkit or one of the other apps that comes with WADK (or WAIK).
