How to control listed (checkable) applications in UDI wizard (dependencys) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I was wondering if one could control the apps, listed in the UDI wizard to enforce dependencys to each other. (No, it's not about the order of apps to be installed - it's about the apps with each other):

For example, in MDT you set up four apps: "Visio Standard A", "Visio Standard B", "Visio Professional A" and "Visio Professional B" - so, both apps twice with each one with ist own special configuration file (i.e. two seperate licenses for both apps). So, when starting PXE and having UDI wizard, it displays 4 apps in the Applications tile - and of course all of these four apps are checkable.

So, you may now want to prevent "Visio Standard" from being installed when also "Visio Professional" had been checked.
Or, you may want to only display "Visio Standard A" app when TaskSequenceID is "A" was Chosen - and "Visio Standard B"if previously TaskSequenceID "B" had been selected..

Does anyone have ideas on how to realize this?

    Regards
    Martin

  • This is actually pretty easy (first part), you can set "Dependencies" and use the "Exclude" rule. This has the effect of popping a dialog and telling the user "Product X can't be selected if Product Y has been selected, would you like to deselect Product Y?" (or similar). As for the second part, you could use different lists used with different Task Sequences but clearly using "Dependencies" seems the way to go...
