RD Session Host Setup - Licensing RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are testing RD Session Host for our environment.  I've read that the RD Licensing Server will issue temporary licenses valid for 90 days if purchased Cal's are not available.  My questions is, do I need to install the RD Licensing Server if we are just evaluating the setup? Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Eric

  • There is a grace period that you can operate in with no licensing server, but I can't remember how long that period is (it could be 30 days). You can create a license server and activate it, but don't add any licenses. That will issue your clients a temporary license which will last 89 days. That should hopefully be long enough for you to complete your eval.

Edit: the grace period is 120 days.
