Search suggestions not working in SharePoint 2013

Question
-
As per the title I cant get search suggestions working.
I have made sure search suggestions are enabled, as per the kb http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj721441.aspx, however when I go to Enterprise Search centre and start typing in the search bar, no suggestions drop down.
I can confirm search is crawling files, as searching for terms and hitting enter yields correct results.
I have also tried 4 or 5 times the same search term, but no luck.
Any ideas on what to try next and how to troubleshoot further?
Many thanks.

Hey Chris, thanks for the reply.
Issuing in PowerShell: Start-SPTimerJob -Identity "prepare query suggestions"
Then made the search suggestions start to show!
Is this not ran automatically? Or does this need to be done once for the first time?

I thought it was a valuable tip and added it to the troubleshooting section of the sharepoint 2013 best practices page ( http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/12438.sharepoint-2013-best-practices.aspx ) and added the tip here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/16640.sharepoint-2013-tips-for-troubleshooting-search-suggestions.aspx
So thx!

Another cause for the problem is that query suggestions are only added after a term is searched for and a result clicked on for 6 times.
Search query suggestions do not work off indexed content, but rather the query log that users have performed.
Had this as a problem with a new SP setup and our client kept reporting it as a bug however it was due to the fact that the system wasn't live and no one was aware it takes the 6 searches of the term (and clicks on results) for it to start showing up as a suggestion.
