Site Collection Restore Error in MOSS 2007 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are trying to migrate the site collection which has 90 GB with in SP 2007 Versions, we are getting following error “the site collection could not be restored. If this problem persists please make sure the content databases are available and have sufficient free space.”  , gone through various blogs but no luck.

    Troubleshooting Steps Done:

    1. Checked DB and found GB’s of space is available in the SQL Server
    2. Verified the application server disk space and it is 2 times the backup size
    3. Restarted the timer services
    4. Performed IIS Reset
    5. Verified the at databases does not have  restrictive growth
    6. Navigated to “SQL Server Properties--Connections” and uncheck ‘Use query governor to prevent long-running queries’. Also, set “Remote query timeout” to 0.
    7. Performed database repair on the database to check if any orphaned items present in the database, but nothing found.

None of the above step worked. Please help.

    Thanks, Ram Ch

  • Hi Ram,

    Thanks for the hardwork,

please have a check this kb as for start: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926061

if i may suggest please full back up your database first to be safe, if the full back up is passed, then we may try to do the migration again by command shell, with run as Administrator, go to sharepoint 2007 hive and do Restore-SPSite

as i know the max limit size for a site collection is 100GB, but its not recommended to be over that 80GB.

to check perhaps you may check this best practice: http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Maxer-for-SharePoint-2010-8cd0f26f
