Exchange item size increases when put in a PST RRS feed

  • Question

  • I found one issue that when an exchange item is transferred to a PST file its size increases as compared to the same when it was in mailbox. Any reason why does this happen? Can anyone guide me?

  • Hi,

It's normal, because PST put the item in a specific form and add other informations so that the size increase.

    Best regards

  • At one time, psts stored each message as 2 copies. One plain text, one RTF. I dont know if that is the case any more with unicode psts, but I suspect there is still some message bifurcation ( and internal indexes) that make the pst file larger than expected.

  • Can we know what exact information is added for exchange items in a PST file?

    Any references would be appreciated.
